Where your heart belongs

Everyday of our lives we past by so many people. For a second in time, we are inches apart. From that second we continue on. Some turn and walk away never to past by us ever again. Some face us and become close friends.

Everyday we brush by so many people. Some we never met again. Some we become close friends with. Today, you walk slowly towards her. She walks slowly towards you. Only inches apart, yet both of you look forward never looking back...

And it rains. The cold water drips down your face. A face appears before you. She stands with her head down. You reach out with your heart in your hand. Suddenly you pull back. You place your heart back in your chest. A painful suffocating feeling builds inside of you. Still you hold on afraid to let go of your heart. Inches away yet miles apart. She walks away...

You turn and walk away. It's not that your strong but you don't believe in standing still...

Does she remember me? It doesn't matter. She was never an ending in your life. And you run. They say the body loses water when you run so you'll have none left only for tears. You shed tears?

A warm breeze brushes your face fooling you with its warmth. And you let yourself go. A heart can only float so long, however. Just as quickly as the warm embrace came, it left leaving you colder than ever before. Floating your heart ever so high only to let it fall ever so fast. Who knew how hard it would be to pick up all those broken pieces of a dream. Each piece cutting ever so deep into soul. A fragile thing it is...

Well you never believed you could ever be the same, yet you slowly piece it all together again. Holding ever so tightly to your heart. Holding it deep down inside. The deeper you hide it inside of you the emptier you feel.

Everyday we brush by so many people. Some we never met again. Some we become close friends with. Today, you walk slowly towards her. She walks slowly towards you. Only inches apart, yet both of you look forward. Today you look back to see her eyes...

Suddenly, you realize in her eyes, you see a part of your soul. From that moment on, you know everything in your life before that moment was to prepare you for her. Your heart was never meant to be caged inside of you, but kept free inside of her soul. With her is where your heart belongs and is where it will always be.

Where it's going

I guess I been feeling a lack of inspiration lately. I feel like I haven't done anything original in a long time. It's like all my drive is gone. Where is all the will to do something big? To make it on my own?

I saw this quote on a friend's twitter that mentions "It's not where you take things from - it's where you take them to." - Jean-Luc Godard

All this time I been looking to myself to find some sort of inspiration to do something new, but I guess I forgot it doesn't matter where the inspiration comes from, it's what you do with it. Find a new idea or build on a old just take it somewhere. It doesn't matter who or what thought of it, it matters where you take it to.

Lost

Everyone say they know there are more have nots than haves, yet everyone forgets that includes themselves. A lot of people seem to think that their included in the have nots, but if you got internet and you reading this, you are not included in that have not group.

For everything you don't have, there's more people with even less. You think you have it bad with one parent? Think of the kid with no parents? What's with the mentality that life gives you the short end of the stick?

Don't give me wrong, I'll give much sympathy to those people out there in hard times, but do you want to be that guy that everyone says they feel sorry for or do you want to be that guy that everyone says wow look how that guy was able to do so much with so little in life?

I've seen and heard some crazy things. I know no matter what happens, life can be even crazier. Are you the one armed man cursing God for your missing arm or are you the man with no arms and legs thanking God you're alive? Life is all about perspective. If you get lost in the suffering, you'll never see the happiness before you.

Simple beginnings

I was reading this article from the Pittsburg Post-Gazette about the gigapan robot, which cost about $379, that allows people to use a point and shoot camera to take panoramic photos with such amazing detail. There's also a website from David Bergman who used the gigapan to shoot a photo of President Obama's Inaugural Address.

When you zoom in on the picture, you can see snipers on the roof. Besides being able to see snipers on the roofs, you can zoom in to see the faces of people in the crowd.

Reading that article and seeing the website really amazed me how such a wonderful picture was made with a simple point and shoot camera. It really made me think back to the day I saw the 14th Dalai Lama speak at the University of California Irvine. He talked about many things, but he also said a line that caught my attention. Forgive me if it's not word for word right, but he said, "From such simple beginnings as A B C, people were able to create a language, and from there people created poetry."

It made me think how so many amazing things in life start with such simple beginnings. I think a lot of people today forget that. They are so focus on visions of grandeur, but they forget that many of the wonders of life start from very simple beginnings.

Ashes of Time Redux

After 17 years, they finally decided to re-release Ashes of Time! I been waiting for this day for awhile. Wong Kar-Wai expressed his regret in the way the original Ashes of Times was made, and embarked on a journey to re-release the film. Most of the negatives were lost, however, thus a search through various movie theater archives was made to find copies of the film so that it could be redone in better quality.

Finally a version of Ashes of Time will be made where you can actually watch the film without having your eyes go blurry from all the grainy film quality, and a version with subtitles that don't take up half the screen covering the movie itself.

Possibilities

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy lunar new year.

I thought about another Wong Kar-Wai movie today, Chungking Express. "Everyday we brush by so many people. Some we will see again and some we will never see again. Some will become acquaintances and some will become close friends." It's pretty amazing the people you'll meet in your lifetime. To think random moments in life could lead to such life long relationships.

I think it's rare to say I'll meet a life long friend today or my true love today, and for it to actually happen. More often than not, life happens in little moments we never planned. The random roommate in the dorms could be your life long friend. That person at the supermarket could be another life long friend. Even the co-worker you use to hate could turn out to be the love of your life.

Life is full of so many possibilities. Keep your eyes open or you just might not notice it.

Because you're near me

I always got random thoughts and memories going through my mind. I use to contemplate about things more back in the day. I use to read so many book and watch so many movies. I think about moments in life…

I think a lot of people think of love, and they think of a lifetime commitment. I know people who think of love like this, and it scares them. How long will I live? How long will he live? How long will my love last? How long will his love last? Will I change? Will he change? How can I know how I’ll feel about him years from now? How can I know how he’ll feel about me years from now? I tend to look at things different…

I remember watching my first Wong Kar-Wai movie, Ashes of Time. It’s horrible that there isn’t a single decent copy of that movie around. The video quality of every version available is so bad that it really takes a determined viewer to finish that movie. It’s almost like watching the static on a tv channel that is blocked. On top of that if you don’t speak Cantonese, you’ll be stuck using subtitles which either take up half the screen or are in white color text that blend in with the background. Back then, however, I always finished a movie I started. I almost didn’t finish that movie. It was such a confusing movie with so many flashbacks too. Then in the last couple of minutes, everything came together. I always look back to that movie. So many lines and moments about life that really made me think about things in a different way. There is this one line, “Love isn’t a lifetime commitment. Love is spending the best moments of your life with the one you love.”

I thought about that line a lot. I not saying I don’t believe in a lifetime commitment. I’m saying love is about spending the best moments of your life with the one you love. It’s not about forever, but spending forever together. Spending the moments together. It’s not worrying how long we’ll live, but enjoying everyday you got together. We may never live these moments in life again, but we’ll never forget this moments. For these moments, no matter how fleeting or eternal are moments that define a lifetime. It’s not about being sad about the day one of us will pass away but being happy that we’re here together today. Life isn’t about the past for the past has gone. Life isn’t about the future for the future has not come yet. It’s about the present. Only in this moment can you live life. Only in this moment can you enjoy love. Live this moment and this moment will become our future. It’s simply because you are near that I feel love, and that makes me happy.

Small dreams

It’s been awhile since I really blogged anything. I been checking out my friend Brian’s site, and it really impresses me. I’m amazed on how much we both have grown since living together in my parent’s house in Canyon Country. I’m really proud B to see that site. I know you put in a lot of hours by yourself to make it work, and I see it starting to really show.
You know that one conversation always sticks into my mind.

04.08.2002
Everyone says they want to be a renaissance man. They want to be up in all elements, but the renaissance isn’t about that. It’s not being up in all elements. It’s about being a master of all elements.

I feel like you on your way to being a master B. Your example has inspired me to keep pushing harder. Like you said, “America is too big to have small dreams.”
